Marc Weber

I am Marc Weber, an integration and cloud architect with a passion for security. Connecting systems, businesses and people is my driving force. I want to understand how an organization works, where it gets stuck and how technology can help. Azure is the main focus of my work, alongside AWS and Google Cloud. The Cloud Adoption Framework is an important guide in this: a successful cloud environment requires more than technology alone.

My entrepreneurial story began in 1999, when I studied at the University of Twente in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Management and Business Information Technology. As a student and entrepreneur, I worked mainly as an integration specialist and business analyst in my early years. That combination of technology and business insight still forms the basis of my approach.

Over the years, I worked for a wide range of organizations, including the Animal Health Service in Deventer, Defence, UWV, Gasunie and universities of applied sciences. I also found challenging issues at Wehkamp, Vattenfall, Kramp and VolkerWessels. Every organization has its own systems, interests and history. It is precisely finding connection within that complexity that makes my work interesting.

Outside work, I also enjoy connecting and organizing. For about fifteen years, I have been active as a volunteer in the Twente cultural sector. At BAM Festival, I was facilities manager. At Stichting in Wording and Stichting Verrev, I was involved in their founding and serve in a board role as treasurer.

I was born in 1974 and grew up in the Grave region, where I played around the Meuse. I now live with my wife and family in the rural area around Hengelo. Together, we have almost completely renovated our 1924 house over a few years and taken it fully off gas. We generate about half of our electricity consumption ourselves and, thanks to our self-built battery, use about 96% of that generated power ourselves. The smart home is part of this too: I like to try out ideas in practice. Only the downstairs toilet is still on the list.
